Abstract
The objective of this research was to get an empirical evidence of the effectiveness of using picture sequence toward students’ writing skill on procedure text. The total sample of this study was 20 students of SMP Muhammadiyah Bengkulu chosen through purposive sampling method, which classified into two classes, experimental and controlled class. The method used in this research was a quantitative method. The design was a quasi-experimental study and the primary instrument of this research was test. The data from both pre-test and post-test scores were analyzed by using t-test which conducted in the SPSS 22. The result of the research showed there a significant difference between the two classes’ in the final mean score of the post-test of the experimental class was 77.75, while the post-test means score of the controlled class was 68.55. The test of hypothesis showed that sig. 2-tailed (p) was 0.003 while alpha (α) was 0.005 (0.003 < 0.005). It can be stated that the Ho (Null Hypothesis) was rejected and Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of sequence pictures affect students’ writing skill of ninth grade at SMP Muhammadiyah Bengkulu.
