Abstract
This study aims to analyze the difficulty level experienced by eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 21 Kota Bengkulu in writing procedure texts. The researcher adopts a descriptive quantitative method. Data Collection was conducted through a treatment process, which in this context refers to interventions or instructional activities given to the students to observe their effects on writing skills. Data analysis involved scoring and categorizing the difficulty levels. The findings indicate that students face significant challenges in writing procedural text, with most aspects classified as difficult. The primary difficulties stem from text structure and linguistic features. Based on the result, this study concludes that the difficulty level in writing procedural text among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 21 Kota Bengkulu is high. Therefore, it is recommended that English teachers implement strategies to enhance students’ proficiency in writing procedural texts.
