Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of persuasive communication by academic leaders on improving student achievement in higher education. The research employs a quantitative method involving 150 students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu, using a Likert-scale questionnaire as the primary instrument. Based on the hypothesis regarding the effect of leaders’ persuasive communication on student achievement, the results of the F-test indicate that the regression model is statistically significant, with an F-value of 49.901 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The findings show that the hypothesis stating that leaders’ persuasive communication (X) influences the improvement of student achievement (Y) is supported, as demonstrated by each variable of X. Partially, the t-test results show that openness (X1) (t = 2.516; p = 0.013), support (X2) (t = 2.908; p = 0.004), positive attitude (X3) (t = 3.926; p = 0.000), and equality (X4) (t = 2.254; p = 0.026) have a significant effect on student achievement. Conversely, empathy does not have a statistically significant influence (t = 1.690; p = 0.093). The most dominant dimension is positive attitude, with the highest beta coefficient (β = 0.259).This study uses a quantitative method involving 150 students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu, utilizing a Likert-scale questionnaire instrument.
