Abstract

This study attempts to develop a workbook for pragmatics course. The development adopted the model proposed by Borg and Gall (1983). Two instruments were used: (i) a questionnaire for the expert in the teaching of pragmatics, the expert of material development, and the pragmatics lecturer to validate the pragmatics workbook being developed and (ii) an interview guide for students doing the exercises in the workbook. Twelve students participated in the try-out. The findings revealed that the workbook is interesting, practical and applicable for the teaching of pragmatics at the English Study Program of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu.
