Abstract

Abstract : KUB-2 chickens are a superior local breed developed from the Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan chicken, selectively bred over six generations by the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (Balitbangtan), Ministry of Agriculture, to improve egg productivity and reduce broodiness. To support the optimal performance of KUB chickens, high-quality yet cost-efficient feed is required. One effort to achieve this is through the utilization of local feed ingredients such as rice bran and corn, processed via fermentation. This study aimed to evaluate the performance response of KUB-2 grower chickens to feed based on fermented rice bran and corn. The research was conducted at the Center for Agricultural Instrument Standardization Application (BPSIP) in Bengkulu. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, consisting of five treatments with five replications: P0 (100% commercial feed), P1 (20% commercial + 80% unfermented rice bran and corn), P2 (80% commercial + 20% fermented rice bran and corn), P3 (60% commercial + 40% fermented rice bran and corn), and P4 (40% commercial + 60% unfermented rice bran and corn). Observed parameters included feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratio. The results showed that the use of fermented rice bran and corn had no significant effect (P>0.05) on feed intake, body weight gain, or feed conversion ratio. Thus, fermented rice bran and corn have the potential to be used as alternative feed ingredients to partially replace commercial feed without reducing the performance of KUB-2 chickens.
