Abstract
Alcoholic beverages contain alcohol that can create a false sense of pleasure but cause serious health risks, such as liver damage, brain injury, addiction, and even death and are socially viewed negatively due to their intoxicating effects. Among adolescents seeking identity, the habit of drinking alcohol, influenced by internal and external factors, can lead to dangerous incidents, including violence and even murder, as reported in a case where friends drinking together ended in a fatal fight. The objectives of the research are to identify the factors that cause university students to become addicted to alcoholic beverages and to analyze the impacts of alcohol addiction on students' academic activities. The type and approach of research used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive method. This study seeks to explain the conditions or factual findings that occur naturally, with a more in-depth analysis of the factors causing students to become trapped in alcohol addiction (A Case Study in Sumur Dewa Subdistrict, Selebar District, Bengkulu City). Based on the research results and discussion presented, it can be concluded that low self-confidence, high curiosity, escapism from problems, lack of knowledge, poor family environment, and negative social surroundings significantly increase alcohol addiction among teenagers, while low education level has a less significant impact on increasing alcohol addiction among teenagers.
