Abstract

f managed effectively, Bengkulu City's vast natural tourism potential can strengthen the local economy, making tourism a strategic asset that needs to be taken into account as the times change. One such example is the long-running beach tourism in Jakat, which is managed by a non-profit organization that promotes tourism. Tourism awareness groups use social capital resulting from human interactions including networks, conventions, and values to manage tourist destinations such as “Jakat Beach” to become better known. Involving the community is very important to maintain tourist attractions. This research aims to investigate the role of social capital in the formation of Jakat beach tourist destination. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, which analyzes and presents data systematically to make it easier to understand and conclude. In this research, primary and secondary data collection methods such as interviews, observation, and documentation were used. This research shows that social capital is very important for the tourism management of Jakat Beach in Bengkulu. Together, the local community and tourism awareness organizations can better promote and develop this tourist destination thanks to social capital components that include social networks, norms, values, and trust. Key tactics to attract tourists include utilizing social media, working with influencers, and organizing cultural events or festivals. Maintaining tourism sustainability and strengthening the local economy through cooperative efforts requires community involvement.
